Manager Nick Snow, completed months of discussion with architects on the Isle of Wight and work has started on a large spiral stair for a new property near Ryde.






   
  January 2009
A traditional flight was delivered to an Edwardian farmhouse in Mullion and work commenced on the flights for the development of the old school in Clare Terrace, Falmouth.
The first batch were delivered to the Holiday Inn and also to a client in Aldershot, Hampshire.
Botrea Stairs have launched a DVD to show their clients and customers how & where they work. This is combined with a national advertising campaign which has seen an increased number of enquiries from all over the UK.

New clients this month included Brayson Construction of Padstow. 3 bespoke external flights were built for a development in Ruanlanihorne. Another flight was supplied to P C Green on the Isles of Scilly and local company MD Chapman.

Botrea Stairs started on the final phase of the re- furbishment of the Holiday Inn in London.

The stairs are a unique freestanding design made in Ash and will be delivered over the next 3 months.
Other customers included Cathedral Builders in St Mawes and R M Builders of Yelverton.
   
  October 2008
Local developer BBCB Ltd placed orders for the developments at Meeks, Knights Warehouse and Leskinnick in Penzance and the former Heather Bell Inn at Carbis Bay. These flights, along with the renovations by Oakland Homes Ltd and numerous others contributed to a bust month for the production team.

Work continues for DHBC Ltd on the site at Trewhiddle Village, St Austell and Peggottys in St Ives for J & E Regan Ltd. Other projects included work for KAT Developments in Rosudgeon , BBCB Ltd in Belgravia, Penzance, B&B Builders Ltd in St Ives and Gloweth Ltd in Rostronguet.



  August 2008
The team said goodbye to Sylvain Futin, a student from France. During his 2 months with the company he has made a valuable contribution.
The delivery of stairs to J & E Regan Ltd for their barn conversions in Sennen was just one of many jobs completed for local building companies. Others included a small development in Newlyn and an industrial unit at Long Rock.

July 2008

  Work continues on the Holiday Inn project along with major developments in St Ives for J & E Regan Ltd and St Austell for DHBC Ltd.
A delivery to Newchapel saw the completion of the long term project for Buxton Builders of Surrey for The London Temple.

Botrea Stairs received a visit from the Parliamentary Candidate, Derek Thomas who looked around the factory and spoke with the directors & staff about the production process and the development of the company. 

June 2008

  The production team completed the final phase of stairs for Trinity Court, The Barbican, Plymouth for Truro based firm, Highgrove Homes Ltd
 
  Office Manager, Marion Pollock, welcomed Lisa Baldeosingh to the company. Lisa will be the ‘voice’ of Botrea Stairs, greeting you when you call.
Sylvain Futin, a student from the Ecole Superieure du Bois in Nantes, France arrived for a 2 month placement.  
 
May 2008
A busy month saw the delivery of the first phase of replacement stairs for the renovation of the duplex apartments at the Holiday Inn in Kensington, London.
The remaining flights on the contract will provide work for several months.

handrail to use on staircases Botrea Stairs  With the launch of a new month Botrea Stairs have developed and designed its own section of handrail to use on staircases. This will replace our existing type of handrail & will give greater flexibility to customers as we can manufacture it out of any type of wood we stock.
Storage Racking Botrea Stairs  March 2008 
Due to increased manufacturing and the need for more woods on the premises two sets of storage racking have been purchased to each hold 3 packs of timber.

With the ever increasing demand to be even more environmentally friendly world, Botrea Stairs has invested in a Briquette making machine to turn all surplus waste sawdust and wood shavings into a sustainable fuel source an alternative to coal.

Recruitment of new Bench carpenter for Botrea Stairs

Bew Bench Carpenter Botrea Stairs A welcome was given today for the new bench carpenter Louis Bauress that increases the carpenter’s workforce to 4 full timers he will be working with Bob Archer, John Rowe and John Prowse the current carpenters to speed up the dry construction pre delivery for customer orders.

Job advertised to find a new bench carpenter
Today an advertisment was placed within local newspapers for the recruitment of a new bench carpenter due to the increased orders form large home building contractors Like Carrillion JM Ltd, Wombwell Homes, DHBC, and Cathedral Builders.

New manager recruited
With the upcoming semi retirement within the company of the two directors a decision today was made to recruit a new manager to take the company onwards and upwards to even greater heights.

New machinist recruited
Martin Pollock was employed this month as a Machinist with prospects to having an in house apprentice to be a carpenter; Martin will be joining Ben Lambourne and Nick Snow on the Machining side of the production process.

Ben Lambourne this month was recruited as a new machinist, Ben will be joining Nick Snow with the preparation of wood and his carpentry development, and Ben joins us from Baltic Pine.

January sees the official opening of the new premises to accommodate increased orders for bespoke staircases and new machinery purchased in the last 3 months, With the move of all the new and old machinery and the closing of the old factory the business is set to have a great financial year

Glue Press Botrea Stairs  Arrival of new Glue Press Machine
With the roof on the new premises late wet and wild night saw the arrival of the new glue pressing machine arrive on site to increase the speed and feed the forthcoming Woodmaster CNC machine that is expected next month this machine will help improve the quality and stability of boards for stair construction and reduce down the time of working machinists

Work starts on new premises @ the higher Botrea site nr. Newbridge
The ground was broken today on the land owned by Mr William East for the construction of new premises. The site next to the old business buildings is to be purpose built, as the amount of work that the business is undertaking is too much for the current size for the workshop.
